Breathe Easier

Keep Active With Revitive

The use of respiratory devices (IMT and / or Oscillatory PEP) have been shown to:

  • Produce beneficial effects in terms of increased respiratory fitness in healthy humans and in patients with cystic fibrosis, COPD, asthma and neurological weakness
  • Reduce breathlessness in healthy humans and patients with asthma and COPD
  • Improve sputum clearance in patients with cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis
  • Improve quality of life in patients with COPD, bronchiectasis and neurological weakness

Inspiratory Muscle Training

IMT is a technique designed to directly affect the functioning of respiratory muscles which are responsive to training. IMT can benefit people with COPD and other conditions involving inspiratory muscle weakness. IMT has demonstrated a number of benefits in a wide range of studies, both in healthy subjects and in people with clinical conditions. Often reported benefits are:

  • Increased inspiratory muscle strength
  • Reduced dyspnoea (breathlessness)
  • Increased exercise performance
  • Improved quality of life

Oscillatory Positive Expiratory Pressure

OPEP devices are designed to interrupt the expiratory airflow, which results in the airways vibrating and so loosening mucus. Furthermore, vibration stimulations applied to the inspiratory system:

  • Reduce breathlessness in healthy humans at rest
  • Reduce breathlessness during exercise in people with COPD

The primary benefits of Oscillatory PEP are:

  • Decrease in sputum viscoelasticity
  • Increase in forces disconnecting sputum from the air passages
  • Increase in sputum expectoration (Coughing up)
